There was a new thirst in town and its name was Springtrap. When William Afton was revealed to be a rotting corpse in a bunny suit, Vincent's massive reign came to a sudden stop. After the release of FNAF 3, Rebornica's AU and interpretation of Purple Guy fell from popularity- though some people still reference the design in cosplay and use the Vincent design in animations. What drove his popularity may have been his easy to drawn design which simply consists of a large smile and blank eyes and a whole lot of purple. Soon after, a large community formed around Vincent and the Rebornica AU. Typically younger fans found him attractive and thus Vincent was the catalyst for Purple Guy Fever. His obsession with toast, constant harassment of Rebornica's rendition of Phone Guy, Cheshire grin, kill crazy attitude, and remorse for his actions matches the era of Tumblr he came from. He also fits in with the stereotypes that came from the Creepypasta fandom or the side that attempted to make the Creepypasta characters into hot anime boys. His whole personality stems from the trope of Twisted Freaking Cycle Path.

Vincent seemingly has more Sexyman traits than the canon William Afton. He is depicted as a completely purple man wearing a nightguard uniform, a ponytail, light stubble, completely white eyes, and a wide grin. There was nothing canon for William Afton at the time, including his name, hence why this version is called Vincent. The Rebornica AU, which was created by the artist of the same name in 2014, was the first widely popular fanon attempt of giving William Afton a personality. More information of this character can be found on his Five Nights at Freddy's wiki page. He takes on the name "Dave Miller" to avoid being caught by police and to continue his experiments regarding Remnant, an energy or property that allows the dead child to possess the animatronics. He gets a canon appearance in the graphic novel adaption of The Silver Eyes, which is part of the FNAF book series. He also takes form of the animatronics Springtrap, Scraptrap, Glitchtrap/Malhare, and Burntrap. William Afton has several forms and aliases, the most notable being his pixel sprite in FNAF 2. He also appears in the fanmade FNAF game, Dayshift at Freddy's (DSAF). He also appears in multiple of the FNAF books. William Afton is the main antagonist of the FNAF series, as well as one of the most important.
